How Does it Work?
BYU Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) has partnered with the IRS to provide do-it-yourself tax service for individuals who have a household income of $57,000 or less. You can now prepare your FREE federal and state tax return using this FREE software. Certified volunteers are available in the VITA Lab (332 TNRB) and via email and telephone to answer you questions.
How Do You Get Started?
- Simply print the Facilitated Self-Assistance Instructions
- Obtain an Electronic Filing Pin (easiest way to file your return)

- Basic computer skills
- An email address
- Valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
