Accounting 310 Tutoring Service
A group of volunteer tutors excited for the arrival of ACC 310 students. |
Beta Alpha Psi students took time out of their busy schedules to help ACC 310 students prepare for their upcoming tests.
From students currently in the Jr. Core and MAcc programs, ACC 310 students got questions answered, principles explained, and concepts simplified. Heesoo Park, a 310 student said that he was, “grateful for the friendly attitude of the tutors, and [that] they were very helpful.”
Volunteers also benefited from their time in the tutoring sessions. Ryan Gibbs, a senior majoring in accounting, said, “It’s very rewarding to help these students prepare for these exams.” Jessica McDonald, a first year MAcc student noted: “This stuff was so hard for me two years ago, and now it’s second nature. It’s great to see how much you can learn in just a couple years, and to be able to teach it to someone else.”
Serving fellow students can bring about meaning and fulfillment in our lives. In a fireside address given on BYU campus over 30 years ago, Elder Gordon B. Hinckley encouraged the student population to serve those in need, including each other: “[F]orget yourselves and reach out. Occasionally, put in the background your own personal, selfish interests. Reach out in service to others. In so doing, you will find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. ‘Whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever will lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it’ (Mark 8: 35).” In accord with this inspired teaching, Beta Alpha Psi students are making the most of their educational experience this semester.
